In short
- The site sets two cookies, and a third when you ask to stay signed in. All are technical.
- None is used for statistics, advertising or tracking.
- There is no cookie banner, because there is nothing optional to agree to.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. The browser sends it back with later requests, so the site can tell that those requests belong together.
Cookies this site sets
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| riftboundorg-session | Holds a random identifier that ties your requests to one session on the server. It contains no personal details, and scripts on the page cannot read it. | 2 hours after your last request |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Holds a security token that protects requests to the site against forgery by other websites. | 2 hours after your last request |
| remember_web_59ba36addc2b2f9401580f014c7f58ea4e30989d | Keeps you signed in between visits, and only when you tick the box for it on the sign-in page. It holds a random token that belongs to your account and nothing else. | 400 days after you sign in |
All of them are set by the software Riftbound.org is built on. They are first party cookies, which means that only this site can read them. The third one is only set when you sign in and tick the box to stay signed in, and it is removed when you sign out.
What the site does not set
- No cookies for analytics or visitor statistics.
- No cookies for advertising.
- No cookies from social media or embedded video.
Content from other servers
Some images and icons load from image servers run by Riot Games at rgpub.io. When this page was last updated, those servers did not set cookies along with the images. If that changes, such cookies are set by Riot and fall under the policies of Riot. The privacy policy has more about these requests.
The check on the contact page and in the feedback form is run by Cloudflare in a frame of its own. Cloudflare can store cookies or similar data there to tell people from automated senders. These serve security only, are not set before you open that page or that form, and fall under the policies of Cloudflare.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in the settings of your browser. The card list, the products and the guides keep working without the cookies above. Signing in does not, because an account needs a session. The contact form and the feedback form do need them, because they protect both against forged requests.
Changes
If the site starts to use other cookies, this page is updated first, and you are asked for your consent where the law requires it.
